LiveMemory™ uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to convert any still photo to a 5-second video, animating the scene in the photo. The AI was trained on a large number of photos and videos in order to create highly realistic results. LiveMemory™ is available exclusively on the MyHeritage mobile app for iOS or Android. To access LiveMemory™, tap the banner on the app’s home screen or use the app menu . Then, simply upload a cherished photo and LiveMemory™ will bring the whole scene to life, enabling you to travel back in time and reimagine the scene.

Creating a LiveMemory™ takes only a few minutes; however, when there is high demand and the servers are busy, it can take several hours. You’ll receive an email when your video clip is ready.

LiveMemory™ works equally well on black and white photos, and photos that were originally taken in color. By default, LiveMemory™ animates the original photo that you uploaded to MyHeritage.

LiveMemory™ is perfect for reenacting nostalgic family photos. It also works well on photos with non-human subjects such as pets or vehicles. The algorithm can simulate parts of the scene not pictured in the original photo, as if a camera is following the movement beyond the edges of the photo.

In the LiveMemory™ feature, AI reenacts the scene shown in your photo. If you upload an ordinary selfie or a photo showing two people standing, there is no scene to speak of and the output video may look boring. To overcome this, upload photos with an interesting scene going on, and avoid selfies. You will then be rewarded by interesting and exciting video results.

No. The videos are a technological simulation of how the people and objects in your photo would have moved and looked if they were captured on video. Sometimes the AI invents additional people and objects that were not really there. The quality of the end result may vary.

Since the AI has only one input photo as a reference, it sometimes has a hard time animating facial features, and people may look different in the resulting video. The results can also vary depending on the resolution of the original photo and the angle of a person's face. If you aren't satisfied with the results, try uploading other photos that have a different angle or feature people in a higher resolution.

Yes! LiveMemory™ lets you pick any photo you have previously uploaded to MyHeritage, or select a photo from your mobile device’s photo gallery. Visit the App Store or Google Play to ensure you have the latest version of the MyHeritage app installed. In the app, tap the LiveMemory™ banner at the top of the home screen and follow the steps to create your video.

Anyone can try LiveMemory™ for free, for a limited number of videos. To create more LiveMemory™ videos, an annual Photo plan or Omni plan is required. The Photo plan currently costs only $49.90 per year and is available exclusively on the MyHeritage app. It provides unlimited access to all of the other MyHeritage photo features including the Photo Scanner. As a thank you for their loyalty, Complete subscribers are eligible for a 25% discount on the Photo plan, and can purchase it for just $37. Once you reach the annual quota for your plan, you’ll have to wait until your next subscription renewal to create more videos.

MyHeritage doesn’t own the resulting video; it belongs to you. MyHeritage only prepares it for you. The same applies to photos you upload to MyHeritage: you own them, not MyHeritage.

There is a watermark of the MyHeritage logo on the bottom left corner of the videos, so that if you share such videos, others will know where to find the LiveMemory™ feature.

While highly realistic, the video clips created by LiveMemory™ are simulated by artificial intelligence; they are not authentic videos. As part of MyHeritage’s commitment to responsible AI, a watermark labeled “AI” is added to the bottom right corner of all LiveMemory™ videos to distinguish them from authentic videos.

Any photo you upload to the LiveMemory™ feature will be stored on your account on MyHeritage, to enable you to use the other MyHeritage photo tools to improve it. You may delete the photo at any time or delete your entire account to destroy all the content that is on it. MyHeritage will not license or sell your photos to third parties and will not use them to train internal AI models. In the initial version of LiveMemory™, video clips are not stored on MyHeritage and are only emailed to you as an attachment. In future versions, they will also be stored on MyHeritage to allow you to access them easily. LiveMemory™ is based on technology from a third party that does not obtain rights to your photo or the output video. Your explicit consent is required, granting MyHeritage permission to process your photo before activating the LiveMemory™ feature.

You are required to use LiveMemory™ responsibly. You must not upload photos of living people other than you, unless you receive their permission beforehand. Do not upload trademarked photos, or photos that depict violence, hate, pornography, drugs, or any offensive subject matter. Do not upload photos of military scenes, or scenes with wounded or dead people. Do not share results that may humiliate or offend anyone.
