| Description | Mr. Richard Lewis Cox, 70, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Birmingham, Ala., passed away in his home on Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, while surrounded by loved ones. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. Mr. Cox attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and served in the U.S. Air Force for two years where he was a pilot. He was also the founder of Cox Pools and Red Bay Sand Company. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Mary Cox of Augusta, Ga.; one son, Richard L. Cox, Jr; three daughters, Virginia McFerrin, Dorothy Pickett and Courteney Cox Arquette; seven grandchildren; two brothers, W. Pete Cox Jr., James L. Cox; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Cox Waitzman; four stepchildren, Craig Mullins, Lee Mullins, Cheryl Vincent and Jennifer Russo. A memorial service was held on Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at 5 p.m. in the St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer Center, Hospice of the Emerald Coast or to St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in memory of Mr. Cox. |
